How to prepare for a boudoir shoot?
So, you’ve decided to take the plunge. Taking a chance on yourself. Being bold and showing yourself in front of the camera. Awesome.
Next step…preparing. There are some questions that come up that I’ll start answering now. The first one is…what do I wear?
First, let’s determine how many outfits to pick out. Different combinations can make multiple outfits. Let’s say you have one top, two bottoms, and a sexy robe. That can make as many as six different combinations. :) Now, of course having more to choose from can be amazing. In terms of the total number, I can count on doing roughly 2 combinations per hour. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but an average of 2 is probably pretty good.
Second, what types of outfits? That is totally up to you. Lacy things always look nice. But what’s most important is that you LIKE what you are wearing. Use this opportunity to go shopping. Head to the store…buy something fun. Buy something that you like, something you’ll feel sexy in. Whomever you choose as your photographer can be super helpful. Let them help you put together a wardrobe set for the day. (and…you can always “rent” outfits and return them…we’ll help you hide the tags. :)
Third, what colors? Well, if you come in my studio, I have more of a “modern” look - blacks, whites, reds, pinks, and blues. Most anything goes with that. Again (notice a theme here?) wear colors you like, and the photographer will make it work. But every studio will be able to tell you what colors go really well in their space.
Next week…I’ll post something from a recent shoot.
